Wall Decals for the Win!

When you have a giant blank wall.....and a love for all things floral.......you do giant floral wall decals! Yes, that is exactly what we did for our Boho Haven client’s stairwell. Decals are a great, non-permanent (I REPEAT non-permanent) way to update a space. That way, when you change your mind in a few years, it’s no big deal to take them off! This is especially great for renters or women who constantly redecorate (definitely ME)!

Etsy seller decals only $88!

Originally we found these great ones at Urban Walls for $265, but our budget was too small. Luckily, we found this great Etsy seller who had almost identical ones for much cheaper. These decals come in 4 different colors and two sizes. The ones we chose were $88 for the green option.

So, let me tell you how we did this in about two hours.

First, let me say it would’ve taken less than 30 minutes had we not completely taken the decals off and redone the wall at least 3 times!

The decals come in these giant sheets so we cut around the pieces with scissors to make it more manageable. Then we tried to tape them to the wall, but the backing is immune to tape. So, we did it the old fashioned way. We laid them out on the floor in front of the wall so we could get a good picture of how they would look. Then, a lot of trial and error moving flowers around in different groupings until it was JUST RIGHT.

Cut first, rearrange, then peel & stick!

Since this was done on a stairwell, we had to literally risk our lives by standing on a long board leaning on a rickety ladder. It’s what we do for beautiful spaces! This works well to have two people. One person can hold the decal up to the wall while the other one can assess the position and spacing. Then, you just peel off the backing and stick the decal on the wall.

Do you see that shaky board and ladder?!

We tried to separate out the different color flowers and leave no bare spots around the main areas. Initially we loved the wall decals all grouped together. However, the wall was so large that we figured we’d need another set of decals. Unfortunately the budget didn’t allow for that. So, we removed all the decals and spaced them much farther apart. When we were completely happy with it, we simply pressed and smoothed out each decal with our hands. Done! How easy was that?! Check out the rest of this Boho Haven client’s home
