Ceiling Lighting Ideas For Your Home

Let’s talk about lighting! Light fixtures can instantly date or update a space. Sometimes it’s hard to tell when one room stops and another begins if the ceiling height is the same throughout. That’s where lighting can play a key role in defining a space. Lighting can give a WOW factor to a vaulted ceiling entry like this Ballard Designs one or this iron ring chandelier.

Then there’s living room chandeliers like this french country one or this polished nickel one that can make a boring room stand out with a great light fixture.  Kitchen pendant and dining room lighting make a huge impact as it’s the first thing people notice in those spaces. You can bring symmetry by using two pendants over a kitchen island that may not have symmetry anywhere else in the kitchen. For the dining room/breakfast nook area, linear pendants are a great choice for extending light across the table like this Visual Comfort one. If you’re trying to make your space feel less formal, a woven pendant may be just what you need!

Lighting doesn’t have to match from room to room as long as it all flows. For instance, the Visual Comfort Morris lantern in gilded iron looks great over the dining room table with two of these black and brass Rejuvenation cone pendants over the kitchen island. Check out the Fain Home for how we used the Morris Lantern in the breakfast area. The same goes with this beaded chandelier (on sale now!) over the dining table and these milk glass pendants.

The best thing to do when determining if all lighting goes together is to make a lighting plan with all the sconces and ceiling lighting together. Here’s a few lighting plans SF Interiors has done! If you need help with your lighting, Contact us!
