Boho Coastal Living Room & Entry Makeover

Don’t you just love a good makeover story? This living room and entryway was in need of a major update. The sweetest client loved all things blue, coastal, and boho! She said she wanted a light and airy feel but still had to keep the current brown leather sofa and recliner. Here’s a picture of the before with yellowy walls, tv on right-facing wall, and a lot of miscellaneous decor.

The goal was to simplify everything and update the space on a limited budget. The first thing the client did was paint everything white (Sherwin Williams Extra White) herself to give it that light and bright feeling she was after.

Once paint was done, it was simply adding decor and rearranging furniture. The styles the client liked were both Boho and Coastal so we mixed a little from each style. We added a white media cabinet to the left of the fireplace and hung the tv above it to add floor space. The windows had originally been covered up with heavy wall hangings and the sofa. So we changed the sofa to the right-facing wall and added floor to ceiling blackout white/navy striped curtains with these adorable wood curtain rods.

The rattan mirror above the fireplace was a great Home Goods find and added the woven texture we needed for both styles. All the other fireplace decor we got from The Refined Table sourced locally in Cleveland, GA! You should check out her store - it’s a great place for home decor! We wanted to keep the fireplace as simple as possible so the client can swap out decor seasonally. This rug was another budget-friendly (and easy to clean) item that fit the space perfectly!

The foyer is almost done; we are still waiting on a few pieces delayed by the shipping overload going on right now during COVID. We went with this great scroll console table with wood top, custom made scrabble tiles and holder, and beautiful macrame wall hanging from Pottery Barn! The sofa and recliner chair had to stay in the design so we went with large pillows to help blend the dark leather with the white walls. These pillows are super comfy and so pretty! Once the client saw the whole new room, she decided that she does want to change out the sofa and chair! Ha I can’t tell you how often this happens when remodeling. So, you may see an updated living room later!
